Managing on premises laundry (OPL)
On-premise laundry means that there is a laundry facility on the property. The term is often found in apartment listings, where it means that there is a washer and dryer available in the building or complex, but not necessarily in the apartment unit. It does not say anything about what it costs to do the laundry or whether it is safe to leave your laundry in the washer or dryer.
Working with Contract Laundry Operation
Normally, in smaller hotels the laundry is contracted out means a small organization making agreements with laundry companies to wash all types of laundry of their linen

TOPIC 3: HANDLE LOST AND FOUND PROCEDURES
how to handle it the guest have lost their stuff at hotel and how to handle if housekeeper found something at guest room already check out?
Lost and found items should be stores in a secure area. In large hotels, linen clerk will handle lost and found items while in smaller hotels the task may be delegated to executive housekeeper or front office personnel. When room attendant finds an item left behind by a guest, he or she should immediately turn it over to the Lost and Found. Next, item should be tagged, logged and secure after they have been turned over to the Lost and Found. A log should be used to record date, time, where the items was recovered and by whom. There must be a space to record the owner's name if the items recovered by its owner. All lost and found items should be kept for 90 days. After that it is up to the management to decide on how to dispose the items properly and normally the items will be given to the person who found it or donated for charity.

TOPIC 2 : TROLLEY PREPARATION PROCEDURES
Trolley preparation.
trolley is an equipment to store and keep a number of linen,supplies and other cleaning materials. In the trolley, it have four level to put the linen and amenities.
1. On the top of trolley its must place all amenities that where put a maid's coddy for chemical and cleaning agents.
2. Second level where place the linen,bath,towel,light bulb,hand towel,and bath mats.
3. On the next level,place the twin bed sheets,pillow cases and double bed sheets.
4. And on the bottom level was place the bigger item such as queen bed sheet and toilet tissue. The trolley also have two side which is trash bag and the liner and dry dirty linen.

2.man-made fibers (its from regenerated or synthetic)

WOOL
Is made up from sheep. Wool is extensively used in hotels although expensive. It used for carpets, blankets and upholstery. Its easy to clean and fire resistant.
SILK
Is produced from the cocoon of silk worms. Its usage in hotel include wall covering, cushion cover and bed sheets. Silk is the strongest of natural fibers and very light. Its very expensive and seldom used in hospitality except for luxury suites and apartments.
COTTON
Its comes from the cotton plant seed. Cotton is used for bed linen, table linen, towel and uniform. Its very absorbent, easily laundered and more resistant to bleaches and alkali and become stronger when wet than dry.
LINEN
Its comes from the stalk of flax plant (a plant fiber used especially for making ropes). Linen is famous for making napkin and table linen. Linen is hard wearing and easily washed but requires careful finishing, Can be easily dyed and the color does not fade when wash.
ACETATE
Is made up from cotton liners plus chemicals. Look like silk. Used for curtain and furnishing. They are sensitive to nail polish, nail polish remover and perfumes.
ACRYLIC
Is made up from chemical and looks like wool and washable. Used for hotel blanket and carpet. they normally used this because they are cheap, do not shrink and easily maintained.
POLYESTER
Is made up from synthetic fiber and is normally added to cotton and wool. Its used in pillows, upholstery, bed linen, and table linen.
RAYON
Is made up from wood pulp and cotton linters. Its look like silk and has draping qualities. Used for curtain and bedspreads.
SPANDEX
Is a mixture of rubbers and chemicals.they are normally used in foundation garments such as swimming suit and hosiery
NYLON
Is made-made fabric from chemicals. Nylon is used in hosiery, netting for bridal veils, carpeting and socks.
Practice label reading
a) Fabrics need no identification since we can read the label and understand the characteristics of the fabrics
b) Fabrics need no hassle of sorting by type of fabrics ( sorting by type of fabrics can maintain its quality ) and washing process will be easy
c) Save time when trying to figure out the exact type of fabrics for quality, checking, washing and knowledge purposes
d) Able to retain the white and coloured fabrics.
